Receiving the Eyes to See Kṛṣṇa

Anyone can see God if one has the qualification. To see Kṛṣṇa, or God, one has to first prepare one’s eyes. For that, one has to simply prepare one’s ears by hearing from the lips of a tattva-darśi, or a self-realized guru.

The tattva-darsi guru sees Kṛṣṇa and when our heart is completely purified, he gives us the eyes to see what he sees- Kṛṣṇa.

The proof that we have surrendered to a guru and have thus received transcendental knowledge can be verified by the amount of transformation this process has brought in our perception of the world around us. Lord Krsna speaks about the result of following the process of surrender:

“Having obtained real knowledge from a self-realized soul, you will never fall again into such illusion, for by this knowledge you will see that all living beings are but part of the Supreme, or, in other words, that they are Mine.”

As a hungry person upon having a proper meal feels nourishment and satisfaction; similarly, a person sincerely practicing the process of surrender sees the due results in his or her life. The effect of surrender will be seen in how we react, relate and deal with everyone and everything around us. It will be seen in the consciousness we exhibit while engaging in every activity we do.

If we do not have a change in attitude-literally towards every single thing-we can understand that we have not yet received the transcendental knowledge.

The attitude that the process of complete surrender fructifies into is that one begins to deal with everyone and everything in pure Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

One becomes fully mindful of what one sees, hears, speaks, relates with, becomes involved in and uses in the services of Kṛṣṇa at all times. In that state of consciousness, every single person, material object or situation life brings one across; one will be able to see that as a property of Kṛṣṇa and will mindfully engage it in Kṛṣṇa’s service for Kṛṣṇa’s pleasure. That is the perfection of surrender.
